TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions of Use set out the expectations of contributors to the Townsville City Council’s Collections portal Recollect. You are contributing to Stories of Townsville. 

Contributor means an individual, business or community group that has created a valid login through the Recollect portal. 

Townsville City Council means the Townsville City Council local government area as per the Electoral Commission of Qld at Townsville City Local Government Area | Electoral Commission of Queensland (ecq.qld.gov.au)

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. All contributors must create a portal login and accept all Terms and Conditions. 
  2. All applicable Townsville CityLibraries Terms and Conditions of Use must be adhered to when using the portal. 
  3. A Contributor can upload their video, photograph, audio or other content by providing their personal information via Recollect. 
  4. The Stories of Townsville is open to all people or organisations associated with the Townsville City Council. 
  5. Employees of the Townsville City Council and their immediate family are encouraged to upload appropriate content. 
  6. Particular collections will outline the scope of the collection including any exclusion criteria.
  7. You can upload content as many times as you like but each submission must be unique.
  8. The contributor must provide their personal information. If under 18 years must have a legal guardian’s permission to provide the requisite details.
  9. Videos must be taken in public spaces and accessible to all people. If you include content taken from private properties, it may not be published.
  10. Inappropriate submissions will not be published. 
  11. Inappropriate submissions include any footage containing alcohol, drug use, sexually explicit imaging, political, lewd or offensive behavior, or anything that would be an offence under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and Human Rights Act 2019 
  12. Uploading submissions indicates acceptance of the Terms and Conditions governing the Collection.
  13. Ensure that all content in your video (including footage, music, images, props, etc.) is your own. If you include any copyrighted or trademarked content, you must be able to provide written permission for its use. Submissions containing any unauthorised content will not be published. 
  14. Please do not use any music with explicit lyrics or connotations. This will be a breach of condition 11. 
  15. Moderators will review the submissions prior to publication and reserve the right to refuse any contributor submissions at any time.
  16. Submissions may be used in advertising and promotional material by TCC in any medium (including, but not limited to television, print, press, cinema, radio, email, website and social media)
  17. Submissions will abide by the Creative Commons selection made by the contributor. 
  18. Participation in the Collection indicates acceptance of the Privacy Statement & Terms and Conditions governing the site. 

 

PRIVACY STATEMENT

Townsville City Council collects and manages personal information in the course of performing its activities, functions and duties. We respect the privacy of the personal information held by us. The way in which council manages personal information is governed by the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). We are collecting your personal information in accordance with Libraries Act 1988 for the purposes of Townsville Collections. Generally, we will not disclose your personal information outside of Council unless we are required to do so by law, or unless you have given us your consent to such disclosure. Information may be downloaded, displayed, printed and copied in an unaltered form only. It is not to be distributed or used for commercial purposes without the written permission of the Chief Executive Officer of the Townsville City Council. Apart from any use as permitted under the Copyright Act 1968, all other rights are reserved.
